The Deer Hunter

Michael (Robert De Niro), Steven (John Savage) and Nick (Christopher Walken), young factory workers from a Pennsylvania steel town, get drafted to fight in Vietnam. Before departing after Steven's wedding and a final hunting trip, they endure many horrors. Captured by the Vietcong, they face brutal captors forcing them into Russian roulette with bets on their survival. The ordeal leaves lasting physical and psychological wounds. Michael returns to Saigon to fulfill a promise and makes a horrific discovery, while Linda (Meryl Streep) remains haunted.
