Tom and Linda, both in their thirties, reside in Belgium near the French border. He works as a policeman, while she is a beautician, and they are teetering on the edge of financial ruin. Trapped in a difficult situation, they decide to engage in a rapid money-making scheme involving a life insurance scam. Their aim is to secure a new beginning in a sunnier location. Initially, their plan seems to be progressing smoothly, but things take a drastic turn for the worse when Philippe, a French constable with whom Linda is having an affair, begins to look into the situation.
