    Rusty Parker, a chorus girl at her sweetheart Danny McGuire's Brooklyn nightclub, enters a Cover Girl contest seeking Broadway fame. Publisher Coudair chooses her after recognizing her resemblance to his lost love Maribelle Hicks, Rusty's grandmother. Rising success draws producer Noel Wheaton, who casts her in a lavish musical, yet strains her bond with Danny, who leaves to entertain troops. Nearly wedding the wealthy Wheaton, Rusty returns to Danny upon realizing her true heart lies with him.
