Young, talented and destitute, Victoria (Julie Andrews) is a struggling soprano trying to make it in 1930s Paris. After an audition with nightclub owner Labisse (Peter Arne) leads to yet another rejection, Victoria befriends middle-aged gay man Toddy (Robert Preston), through an impromptu dine-and-dash. After a scuffle between Victoria and a young hustler named Richard in Toddy's apartment, Toddy convinces Victoria to go undercover as Count Victor Grazinski, a polish female impersonator.
As the star of a hit nightclub show, Victoria begins to attract attention of all kinds. Mob-connected King Marchand falls victim to Victor(ia)'s charms, refusing to believe that he could possibly be a man. Simultaneously, a suspicious Labisse hires a P.I. to figure out exactly what's happening with the sudden star. Will Victoria be able to keep up the act amid all the chaos? And a better question... When Victoria is Victor, is she a drag king or queen? Come decide for yourself at this special one-night-only event!
