    En 1908, Alma Richards, qui est en classe de huitième, quitte l'école pour travailler dans un ranch. Une rencontre par hasard avec un professeur l'encourage à reprendre ses études, ce qui le mène à concourir au saut en hauteur aux Jeux olympiques de Stockholm, où il décroche une médaille d'or.
