    Situé 23 ans après l'histoire originale qui l'a inspiré, The Machine trouve Bert Kreischer confronté à une crise familiale et à l'arrivée de son père éloigné (Mark Hamill) lorsque le fantôme de son passé alcoolisé arrive : un gangster meurtrier (Iva Babic) déterminé à kidnapper Bert pour le ramener dans sa patrie afin de se racheter de ses crimes. Ensemble, lui et son père doivent retracer les pas de son jeune moi (Jimmy Tatro) au milieu d'une guerre entre une famille criminelle sociopathe tout en essayant de trouver un terrain d'entente.
