    Histoire de gangs rivaux d'enfants pauvres et riches dans l'Oklahoma des années 1960. Les frères Curtis, Derrel (Patrick Swayze), Sodapop (Rob Lowe) et Ponyboy (C. Thomas Howell), luttent pour rester ensemble après la mort de leurs parents. Leur ami Greaser, Dallas (Matt Dillon), aide Ponyboy et leur ami en difficulté Johnny (Ralph Macchio) à s'enfuir après une bagarre avec les enfants riches qui tourne au drame.
